While the new 2022 Ram trucks retain the same powertrains and trim levels, there are several new special editions and the introduction of the new Uconnect5 infotainment system to all of the truck models. These technology upgrades come to the 2022 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500 heavy-duty trucks, and the 2022 Ram ProMaster van lineup.
This is a much-welcomed upgrade. The Uconnect5 system brings both hardware and software improvements to make the system quicker loading, more responsive, more customizable, and more convenient. The system offers a very handy wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and wireless charging (if the truck is so equipped).
The new system provides Over-The-Air (OTA) vehicle update capability. If some fixes or updates cannot be made remotely via the OTA, then the system also has a service appointment scheduling feature.
Uconnect5 fully integrates Amazon Alexa capabilities into the vehicle as well. Ram Telematics is also a part of this upgrade which helps fleet managers monitor and service their vehicles. Finally, the Uconnect Mobile App provides any Ram owner remote control of their trucks and remote monitoring as well. It allows you to start or stop the engine remotely, lock or unlock the doors, and locate your truck.
Here is a video from the 2021 Chicago Auto Show that shows many of these 2022 Ram lineup upgrades in greater detail. This also includes the Ram Rebel GT, Ram Limited 10th anniversary edition, new trailer 360-degree camera system, and more.
