Join Tommy as he gives us a close walk-around of the new 2022 Ford Maverick. This is an all-new compact pickup that Ford is looking to introduce and start selling later this year (2021). This is a unibody design that is based on a front-wheel-drive configuration.
The base Maverick comes with a gas/electric hybrid powertrain. It’s a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that is backed up by an electric motor and an eCVT to send a total of 191 horsepower to the front wheels. This Maverick is rated to haul up to 1,500 lbs of payload and tow up to 2,000 lbs. It starts at $19,995 before destination charges.
If you want all-wheel-drive, more power, and more towing capability – then you opt for a 2.0-liter turbocharged power unit with 250 horsepower. This engine is backed up by an 8-speed automatic that can be had with FWD or AWD. This one can be equipped to tow up to 4,000 lbs. With all the options – the price can reach just above $37,000 or a little more.
