Curious about four light & heavy-duty trucks battling it on the drag strip? Oh yea you are, and so are we!

We know that you guys are chomping at the bit to see light & heavy duty trucks go head to head to see which one is quicker in an eighth of a mile – right? Well, we are answering the call! On top of that, these trucks will be featured in towing, hauling, and performance videos soon. That’s important too, but you guys came for the smackdown – right?

Here are the light & heavy duty trucks

  • 2021 Ford F-250 Tremor – 7.3-liter gas V8
  • 2021 Ram 2500 HD – Cummins diesel I6
  • 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid pickup truck – Hybrid turbo V6
  • 2021 Ram 1500 – Hemi V8 with eTorque

Why no General Motors, Toyota, or Nissan trucks? We will be getting these vehicles soon. In fact: we’ll get some Chevrolet products next week. We will cram to get as many trucks on the Ike Gauntlet as soon as we get them, while the weather is still good. Andre tries to drive these vehicles in similar conditions. Unfortunately, between the Covid-19 and chip delays, mixed in the unpredictable weather – our timing is… challenging.

Still, Andre is undaunted, and he will get to more trucks directly.

As for this drag race: yea, the outcome is fairly predictable. You’ve seen most of these vehicles battle before. Knowing this, we also added our Solo DL to each race to measure 0 to 60 mph in each truck. Initially, we were interested in how different each powertrain is. Remember: we are racing an HD diesel, against an HD gas, and a hybrid vs a beefy gas V8. Very different powertrains. The gap was wide, but there were a few surprises.

In this video, Roman, Andre and Nathan head to our favorite race track (IMI Motorsports) and race in brackets. Check it out!
