Time has finally come, here are the first official renderings of the upcoming 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz compact pickup. The company officially confirms that it is coming to production. Here is everything we know so far.
Hyundai calls it a Sport Adventure Vehicle (SAV) and says that it’s creating an entirely new vehicle segment between a crossover and a pickup truck. Here is how Hyundai describes the new SAV: “Santa Cruz boasts a bold yet sophisticated design, powerful and efficient powertrain options, a flexible open bed for gear, cutting-edge connectivity, and a highly maneuverable all-wheel-drive platform that is equally at home in urban and adventure-focused environments.“
We do not have more details about what is meant by the “flexible open bed”.
The company does not yet any specifics about the size, weight, power output, actual efficiency, payload, or towing capacities for the new Santa Cruz. Hyundai says the vehicle is designed by the Hyundai North America design studio. It will make its world debut on April 15, 2021.
The new 20222 Santa Cruz will begin production in the summer of 2021 at the company’s Montgomery, Alabama manufacturing facility. This is the same factory that will also be producing the 2022 Tucson crossover that is coming out this spring.
