In this episode of “Dude, I love (or hate) my ride,” a high mileage hero with a ton of cool mods.

We got a great video of a 1999 Ford F-350, which is a high mileage hero that has been built for off-road domination. Owned by Allie (and her proud husband), the ’99 F-350 has a 7.3-liter Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel that has been built, and the truck had 235,000 miles – when they bought it. It now has over 320,000 miles.

Her husband takes on a detailed tour of this beast.

A high mileage hero indeed.

The truck lives in Sweet Home Oregon (not Alabama). The owners have done a lot of work themselves, including fabricating a beefy front, and a special rear bumper. It has a 16,000 lbs winch, new and very old-school front lights, and an LED light rack on the roof.

Aside from the “Oregon chrome (rust),” they added badging, darkened the hood, included giant Bushwacker fender flares and massive tires. It has a lot of additions, including an air compressor, CB, and a miniature HAM radio. Speaking of that air compressor, the owner built a huge rear bumper. That bumper is hollow and holds the air for the compressor. Slick!

They mounted huge 38.5 Super Swamper tires on 15-inch steel wheels. Then they added double bead-locks right off a Hummer H1. On top of that, Warn hubs were added upfront, along with a two-inch lift.

It has forged connecting rods and a Dana 60 upfront – and they are running 3.73 gear front and back. It also has a locking torque converter. The powertrain has received its share of modifications. Their biggest complaint seems to be the power steering pump.

There is a lot going on with this high mileage hero, and it’s a mean-looking, but practical build.
