Video: Check out the Jeep Red Bare Concept – the 2021 EJS Jeep Truck on 37s!

Yes, this is the Jeep Red Bare concept – not “Bear” – and it is a beefy and capable Jeep Gladiator.

The Jeep Red Bare concept will be heading to the 2021 Easter Jeep Safari for a special behind-the-scenes event that TFL Studios’ will attend. During this event, we will get a hands-on introduction to the Jeep Red Bare truck, along with many other concepts.

In the case of the Red Bare, it is a build that many Gladiator owners could (probably) do. This Gladiator is somewhat naked (hence: “Bare”) for lighter weight, and it is red. It’s mainly an example of what can be done with Jeep Performance Parts (JPP), and a bit of imagination.

It’s kind of amusing that they opted to use a diesel Jeep Gladiator. Normally, with that relatively heavy 3.0L V6 and all of the internal upgrades to work with that mill, a diesel Gladiator weighs around 5,000-lbs.

Jeep Red Bare concept details:

It comes with the 3.0-liter diesel V6 that makes 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. That includes the same eight-speed automatic transmission, but the folks at Jeep swapped the 4.10 axels with 4.88 using Dana 44s. This gives the Jeep Red Bare concept an insane 91-to-1 crawl ratio.

To make the best use of the new gearing, Jeep added 37-inch tires surrounding 17-inch wheels. Normally, a Rubicon (which this is based on) has smaller tires. To make up the difference in clearance, they added a JPP two-inch lift.

The Red Bare also has half doors, that are not available for the Gladiator (yet), but Jeep is adding them to almost every EJS concept. While there are accessories that may not be available from JPP at the moment, they often go into production after events like this.

Jeep also added some cool-looking light/bed bars that look custom. The whole concept is bathed in bright red livery, and there is very little additional added to the concept. Presumably, that’s to keep the overall weight down.

Jeep Gladiator Farout Concept

Jeep Farout Concept:

By the way, we’ve got another cool concept that will make an appearance this year. It’s very similar to the Jeep Gladiator Wayout concept we covered two years ago. It was supposed to be seen at the 2020 event. Given that there was no EJS last year, this concept kind of languished until this year.

Like the Wayout, the Farout concept is an overlander build based on a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. The difference is mainly based on its use of the EcoDiesel engine, different accessories, and unique looks. It has a hard-shell rear topper and a unique exterior design. If you think the whole roof-top tent, wheels, and color schemes look familial; yep, we used the predecessor as inspiration for our build.
