We get up close and personal with the all-new 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor. The Tremor name joins the current generation of the Ranger as the most off-road worthy 4×4 model. What makes it more off-road capable than the existing Ranger FX4? We go over all of the latest gadgets and gizmos on this truck here.
The Ranger Tremor has a mild suspension lift and a unique suspension design with FOX shocks to offer more wheel travel and some more ground clearance. The updated suspension also allows Ford to fit larger 32-inch tall tires on this truck. They are the General Grabber ATx all-terrain LT 265/70R17 tires. What does all of this mean? The Ranger Tremor has more ground clearance than the current 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. Here is the critical spec comparison between the Ranger Tremor, Tacoma TRD Pro, and the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. We will do another detailed comparison between this Ranger and a Chevy Colorado ZR2 a little later.

The new Ranger Tremor also has a slighter wider stance (by about 1 inch) due to a changed wheel offset. The Tremor does not offer a physically wider long-travel suspension, like a Raptor model would. The Tremor’s wider stance is accented by new and slightly extended Tremor fender flares.
The Tremor’s grille has red inserts to make it stand from the rest. Underneath, the Tremor uses skid plates to protect most vital components. The Ranger is equipped with 2-high/4-high/4-low 4×4 system. There is not 4-auto mode available with this current model. The Tremor still has a Terrain Mode selector, selectable rear locking differential, and Ford’s Trail Control (slow speed off-road cruise control system).
On the inside, there are unique Tremor seats, trim, and a bank of six auxiliary switches that sit on top of the center dash. Unique side steps round out the Tremor package. The Tremor package is only available on the Ranger XLT and Lariat trims levels and in the crew cab configuration. The package adds $4,290 to the price of a Ranger. It means that the Ranger Tremor pricing ranges between around $40,000 to about $48,000 for a Lariat model with nearly every option as you see in this video.
How does the Tremor drive on and off the road? How does it compare against other off-road focused midsize pickup trucks? We are holding our driving impressions and comparison until Feb 10th and Feb 15th respectively to respect Ford’s requirements and to be fair to other truck news outlets.
