Here we have more up close images of the upcoming 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz crossover pickup truck. This one was recently spied near Pueblo, Colorado by Eric Acosta. Thanks to Eric and my friend, Destin Raybun, for bringing up these photos.

The Santa Cruz has been rumored and planned for many years. It appears to be going through the final stages of real-world prototype testing. All information we have suggests that it will share much of its platform with the latest Hyundai Tucson. The wheelbase is naturally stretched to accommodate a short bed. We don’t have most official details about the upcoming production Santa Cruz. It may shares some of the engines available in the 2022 Tucson. This includes a new 2.5-liter gas I4, a turbocharged 1.6-liter gas I4, or a gas/electric hybrid powertrain combination. The power output may vary from 180 hp to 230 hp in the hybrid.

The Santa Cruz may also get its own unique power train that produces more power in order to handle heavier loads. Eric captured several other vehicles that are testing with or chasing alongside the Santa Cruz prototype. There appears to be a production-ready 2022 Hyundai Tucson with no camouflage and a covered-up Genesis GV70 prototype.

Here is everything else we know so far about the Santa Cruz crossover pickup.
