Ram announces that the new 2021 Ram TRX truck begins production this week at the company’s Sterling Heights factory (SHAP) in Michigan. The images you see here show the very first VIN 001 truck going down the production line. This is the Launch Edition truck in unique Anvil Gray color. Who will get this very first production TRX truck? The company says that this one will be auctioned off for charity next year. The details of the auction are not announced at this time.
This VIN 001 truck is loaded with all the options, as most Launch Edition trucks are. It includes the most luxurious TR2 package with carbon-fiber interior trim, panoramic sunroof, heads-up display, beadlock capable wheels, 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system, and exterior graphics. This exact truck will also be equipped with a Mopar sports bar behind the cab (aka. Ram Bar), Mopar Rock Rails, Mopar second in-bed spare tire carrier system, towing package, and a Trailer Reverse Steering control.
This is a configuration that is very similar to the Ram TRX truck that were fortunate to test a couple of weeks ago. See the TRX on the Ike Gauntlet towing test in the video below.
The TRX is equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It is rated to do a 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.5 seconds, do a 1/4-mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph, and have a top speed of 118 mph.
The truck rides on a unique frame, active and adjustable Bilstein Blackhawk e2 shocks, and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires. This is a beast, and it is very comfortable to drive in all conditions. How much will it cost? The truck we got to test had a sticker price of just over $91,000.
The Launch Edition trucks can have an MSRP of closer to $100,000. This is before taxes and fees. How much will the VIN 001 bring at auction? I am guessing it will be a lot more than $100K.
