For the record: Power Wagon still don't care

FCA is certainly no stranger to special edition models, and now it’s the Power Wagon‘s turn. Enter the 2021 Ram Power Wagon 75th Anniversary Edition. It’s a throwback to the original truck introduced all the way back in 1945, and is a celebration of Dodge’s original 4×4 pickup. The photo above shows the new model alongside a 1946 model Power Wagon (left), as well as a Power Wagon Wrecker (right). The Power Wagon has been used through several Dodge and Ram truck variants throughout its history, but the latest model is thoroughly built as an off-roader.

“The 2021 Ram Power Wagon is the most capable production off-road truck in the industry,” says Head of Ram Brand Mike Koval Jr. “…the launch of the 75th Anniversary Edition reinforces Ram Truck’s position as the off-road truck leader.” Depending on how you look at off-roaders, it can be tough to argue that point. For reference, see the Power Wagon performed against its chief rivals from GM and Ford in the video below.

What do you get in the Ram Power Wagon 75th Anniversary Edition?

Now, the 2021 Ram Power Wagon 75th Anniversary Edition costs $66,945 including destination. So what do you get for your money? Under the hood, this 7,000-pound beast still packs a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 gas engine. Performance remains the same, at 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed transmission is still standard fare, as is locking differentials front and rear, a disconnecting front away bar, 4.10 ratios at both ends, a built-in 12,000-pound Warn Zeon-12 winch with synthetic line and underbody protection galore. On top of the specific touches, the $11,715 premium on a base Power Wagon includes everything from the Level 2 Equipment Group (a $5,795 option on its own), as well as the electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case option.

Unique features the 75th Anniversary Edition adds starts with the commemorative badging, naturally. Beyond that, though, you do get unique grille mesh so the truck more closely resembles its 1940s counterparts. New 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels on 33-inch tires round out the exterior differences.

Interior touches

Inside, the 2021 Ram Power Wagon 75th Anniversary Edition includes more commemorative badging on the dashboard, seats and center console. Speaking of seats, the black accents are broken up by Mountain Brown leather. The 12-inch Uconnect 4C infotainment system with navigation remains in this special edition (and accounts for part of the premium, as the 8.4-inch screen comes standard on the Power Wagon without one of the Equipment Groups). However, for the first time on a Power Wagon, you now actually get Off-Road Pages that show the truck’s ride height, transfer case position, pitch, roll and accessory gauges — all useful information when you’re off-roading. As before, you still get a 360-degree camera system with forward gridlines. Finally, you get a standard 750-watt Harman Kardon 17-speaker stereo system, normally a $795 standalone option.

The 2021 Ram Power Wagon 75th Anniversary Edition will arrive at dealers in the coming weeks.
