Sources say the Chevy Silverado will soon get the Multi-Flex tailgate – which is similar to GMC’s Multi-Pro.
It will be no surprise to see Chevrolet sporting their milti-configurable Multi-Flex tailgates soon. The idea that Chevrolet would get a version of GMC’s Multi-pro tailgate makes sense. Currently, the tailgate is capable of seven positions. It’s also capable of housing Bluetooth speakers in the tailgate as well.
It makes sense that GM will share the love and give Chevrolet the Multi-Flex tailgate. The GMC Mult-Pro tailgate is very popular among truck buyers, many of which love playing with the multiple configurations.
Not that much of a surprise:
We expected to see this happen for a while. A few years back, we spoke to a GM insider who said this was coming around the corner. You can read that 2018 post (here).
While the name “Milti-Flex” is (partially) journalistic speculation, GM did apply for the name back in 2003. Granted, that was for a seat which never came to market, the name still hung around. According to insiders and our friends at GMAuthority.com, the name Multi-Flex (or MultiFlex) is on the shortlist of possible names.
For those of you who feel that Chevrolet doesn’t need a Multi-Flex tailgate, keep in mind, there is this thing called “consumer demand.” Based on what we’ve seen with GMC, their Multi-Pro tailgate is extremely popular. The voices of the consumers have not escaped the Chevrolet management.
One big thing we don’t know is whether we’ll see new or unique versions of this complicated tailgate. Perhaps we’ll see a compromise, or maybe nothing will be different at all? Also, we have no idea if this tailgate can be retrofitted and connect to older model versions of the Silverado.
Stay tuned for more information on all of that soon.
