What you see here is the first public appearance of a 2021 Nissan Frontier prototype with what we think is production-ready body and chassis. It means we are getting closer to the official reveal of the Nissan’s most popular pickup truck in America.

2021 Nissan Frontier

The new Frontier will ride on an updated chassis with an all-new body and interior design. There is still a lot we do not officially know about the upcoming new truck, but there is one thing we know for sure. The next-generation Frontier will use the new 3.8-liter gas V6 engine that is currently offered in the outgoing 2020 Frontier truck. Nissan says the new engine has about 90% new parts, and it is not related to any other engine in the Nissan lineup. It’s meant for truck duty, and it debuts in the Frontier. The current power rating is 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. The new engine will be mates to the new 9-speed automatic transmission, which is also used in the 2020 Nissan Titan.

Speaking of the new Titan, this Frontier prototype appears to be a “baby Titan” in its overall shape and configuration. However, it does appear that the next Frontier will grow at least a little in overall dimensions when compared to the old truck.
