FCA of Canada provided an update to the older Ram Ecodiesel emissions recall. It relates to the software update done to older Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs that are powered by the 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesels. This update is also referred to as the AEM. Many owners have complained to say that their EcoDiesel trucks and SUVs are much slower off the line, and much less fuel efficient than before the AEM update.
Here is the statement from FCA Canada, “A small number of customers have raised concerns after obtaining the software upgrade. They comprise a fraction of all who have had the reflash. We are endeavoring to resolve their concerns. The condition they report is predominantly related to cold-startup and resolves itself as the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature. We are developing an updated calibration as a potential means of eliminating the condition.“
When reached for comment about the statement, FCA Canada representative said this also applies to U.S. older EcoDiesel customers.
