The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 is getting some important updates, and one big class-leading claim for maximum towing capacity. The 2020 trucks will be available for sale this summer, around August or September 2019.
2020 Chevy Silverado 1500
First up are the engines. If you have been wanting a Silverado Trail Boss with the big 6.2-liter V8, then you will be able to get it in the 2020 trucks. The Custom Trail Boss trim level will offer the 420 hp & 460 lb-ft of torque V8 and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Trail Boss is the most off-road worthy Silverado 1500. It has a 2-inch lift, Rancho shocks, skid plates, mechanical rear locker, and more. Perhaps the best news about this is that the Custom Trail Boss with the 6.2-liter will start at $43,865.
The big V8 will also be available in the RST trim level, and this is how the 2020 Silverado will get a class-leading 13,400 lbs maximum towing rating for a 4×4 truck. This will be a double cab 4×4 with a standard bed and the 6.2-liter V8.
The 5.3-liter V8 with DFM will get a 10-speed automatic transmission in LT Trail Boss and High Country models.
The 3.0-liter Duramax I6 will continue for 2020, but we still do not know its fuel economy estimates yet.
The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 will also get an optional Adaptive Cruise Control feature with full-stop capability in LT, LTZ, and High Country models.
The next Silverado will also get the additional trailer-mounted camera capability for a total of 15 camera views. This includes the transparent trailer feature.
The towing technology features will also include the iN-Command Control System which allows the driver to monitor or control some camper trailer features (if the trailer is compatible). This feature will also be available on the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD trucks.
