Not so, according to a statement from Ford. Ford says “[We] can confirm/clarify that the wheel does not need to be removed to change the oil or the oil filter in the 2019 Ford Ranger.“
We do not currently have a new Ford Ranger, so we cannot show you all of the engine bay details, and how it relates to the oil change. However, you can see that the engine oil filler and dip stick are right at the top and center.
How does the oil-change process compare to the competition: Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon, Nissan Frontier, and others? We will follow up on this as well. The large air filter is on the passenger side.
