The April 2018 truck sales numbers are in, and it was a tough sales month for most involved with the full-size pickup sales in the United States. First, we must state the General Motors (Chevy and GMC) moved to quarterly sales reporting, versus monthly as it has been for several years.
Ford F-Series sales continue to improve, as the company sold 73,104 trucks in April. The company is also up 4.1% in first four month of this year when compared to 2017.
Ram truck sales declined again in April, and we recently learned that Ram is having some production capacity issues with the new 2019 Ram 1500. The production facility is running at approximately 60% of target capacity at this time. As soon as, FCA is able to iron out the supply and production issues – the sales numbers should increase.
Toyota Tundra declined -4.6% in April versus last year, but it’s still comfortably up Year-To-Date. The Nissan Titan sales declined in a significant way. We will continue to watch this space very carefully.
