What is the best way to match a truck camper to your truck, or vise versa? How difficult is it to get the right truck camper for your next adventure? It’s not that difficult if you keep the following in mind.
As an example, we are using a 2002 Chevy Silverado HD 2500 crew cab 4×4 with a regular bed and a 6.6L Duramax V8 diesel and a 1991 Hallmark Victor truck camper.
You need to know a few measurements for the base of the camper and the bed of your truck. You also need to know the weight of the camper and whether the maximum payload of your truck can handle the weight.
In this case, the base of the Hallmark Victor camper is 4×8 feet, and it is about 22 inches tall at the bed rails – so it can actually fit the shallower bed of the older 2002 Silverado HD. The camper weighs about 1,400 lbs with a few supplies stored inside.
