Is Hummer H2 Overland Ready? Find Team TFLtruck at the Overland Expo in Flagstaff, AZ

TFLtruck’s – Hummer H2 : Project Overland

You may already know that we have been working to prepare our 2003 Hummer H2 project truck for the overland trip to the 2018 Overland Expo West. The time has come, and we are already on the road to Flagstaff, Arizona via Moab, Utah in what we lovingly call “the world’s most hated truck”.

Here are the updates we made to the Hummer:

  • Heavy Duty front steering components (tie rod ends, pitman/idler support) from Cognito Motorsports
  • BFGoodrich KM2 mud terrain 35-inch tall tires
  • Front grille guard
  • Additional off-road lights
  • Roof-rack mounted cargo carrier
  • Hitch-hammock.com cargo carrier/hammock

Oh yea, the Hummer also has a working trailer brake controller (Tekonsha P3), so we will be able to do some towing with the truck in the future. We are not towing any trailer for the overland trip.

In case you are curious, under the hood is a 6.0L Vortec gas V8 that is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The H2 is running with a full-time 4WD system that has a low-range transfer case. The truck has a rear locker and air suspension in the rear that is able to lift the tail of the truck by up to two additional inches.  The on-board air compressor has an output in the rear cargo area to allow for airing up accessories or tires.

The entire TFLtruck team will at the 2018 Overland Expo on May 18th and May 19th. We do not have a booth, but you may see us walking around, checking out other projects, and chatting with people. If you see us, please don’t hesitate to say hello.

Here is a recent video of our project truck with the overland upgrades.
