Ford recently made an official announcement that the Ford F150 Raptor will get an update in 2018 calendar year (presumably as a 2019 model year, since 2018 Ford Raptor trucks have been on sale for some time). Ford also said that a new Ford F-150 will come in 2020 with a hybrid model that includes a mobile generator feature.

We have already discussed the 2020 Ford Super Duty news, so this article is focused on the F-150 and the F-150 Raptor.

Here is another quote from Ford’s press release.

Part of Ford’s new strategy includes going all-in on hybrids to bring more capability to customers of our most popular and high-volume vehicles like F-150, Mustang, Explorer, Escape and Bronco – and serve as a hedge for customers against higher gas prices.

Let’s set aside the fact that Ford mentions a Ford Bronco Hybrid. That is a juicy piece of news, but that and the teaser image is about all we know so far about the Bronco. There is also a report that the Bronco will be a four-door model.

There are some additional rumors coming out of Las Vegas, NV and the recent NADA meeting. There is a report from Town & Country TV that Ford showed their dealers the next generation of the F-150 and the Super Duty trucks. The dealership representative also says that a new engine option for the Ford Raptor is a possibility.

What does it mean? Will the updated 2019 Ford Raptor get a V8 engine option? Will the Raptor be the first truck in Ford’s lineup to receive a performance-hybrid power plant? We will have to wait a bit longer to learn more details.
