How much has the new 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 interior and dash area change when compared to the outgoing 2018 model of the truck? Let’s take a side-by-side look at the High Country luxury model interiors to see the differences.
Let’s start from left to right. The control layout around the driver side vent has changed a lot for the 2019 truck. The integrated trailer brake controller has been moved to the lower center console, near the driver’s right knee and the engine start/stop button. This is a common location for the brake controller. This is where most right-handed people can quickly reach the manual trailer brake switch. The new truck’s 4×4 control knob and buttons are on top. The headlights and exterior lights knob and button are just below.
Notice the small electronic parking brake switch just to the left of the steering wheel?
The design of the steering wheel is very similar to what it was before, but it has been updated for the new truck and it is no longer slightly off-set to the side. The steering wheel is now dead center.
The center stack is familiar, but different. There is still the 8-inch infotainment screen in the center. Below it are the radio/media controls and HVAC controls. Below that are switches for up to nine different functions, depending on trim level and options. Of course, the charger ports and outlets are near the bottom.
You may have also noticed that the dual glove boxes, and the door cards are also redesigned in the new truck. Indeed, Chevrolet updated and redesigned nearly every aspect of the interior.
What do you think? Do you like the new dash layout? Did Chevy do enough to upgrade it? Would you have done something differently? Please let us know in the comments below.
