How often do most people get to be around cool machinery like this? The vehicle featured here is a completely refurbished 1989 Oshkosh T2500 6×6 chassis that is outfitted as an airport fire truck. The truck’s name is “Red 1”, and it is stationed at Denver’s South Metro Fire & Rescue Station 35.

This is one badass 6×6 machine that towers over all other vehicles on six giant tires. It’s powered by a Detroit turbo-diesel engine that produces in a neighborhood of 540 horsepower and at least 1,500 lb-ft of torque. This is enough power to get this 70,000 lbs fully-loaded truck moving a good rate of speed. It can carry 2,500 gallons of water and shoot water from two water cannons while on the move.
What better way to rinse off a truck, then let the guys at South Metro and Red 1 spray massive amounts of water in a matter of seconds.

Once again, big thanks to the team at South Metro Fire & Rescue Station 35 for welcoming us and giving us such a great demonstration.
