2016 Chevy Silverado HD Concept by Kid Rock Stands For Freedom at SEMA [Preview]

Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Kid Rock Edition | 2015 SEMA

Chevrolet got together with musician Kid Rock to collaborate on a 2015 SEMA show concept. This 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD dually is all American and inspired by Kid Rock’s hit song “Born Free”. It shows strength with chrome exhaust stacks and a bold customized grille.

Kid Rock visited the truck assembly plant in Flint, Michigan as part of the inspiration for the build. The artist wanted the customized touches on this heavy duty to make a bold statement and still be within reach of the “working-class guys”.

A black metallic-flecked paint job serves as the basis for the exterior. The interior features “Sky Cool Gray” leather with acid-wash jeans inspired inserts. The entire theme plays on the contrasts between black and silver/chrome color palettes.

The 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbo-diesel makes more than enough power to tow a pair of Gibbs Sports Quadskis.  The big diesel is still rated at 397 horsepower @ 3,000 rpm and 765 lb-ft of torque @1,600 rpm. We will have to wait to get details on power and other upgrades for next version of the Duramax.

The 2016 Chevy HD lineup has an optional digital steering assist system that improve highway stability and road holding. We will put this new system to the test soon. In the meantime, watch how the 2015 Chevy dually does on the Ike Gauntlet extreme towing test.
