There have been several reports that Ford is unable to meet demand for the 2015 Ford F-150 due to a shortage of frames. The frames for the 2015 truck are modified from the previous versions and are made from ultra high-strength steel.
TFLtruck reached out to Ford for comment and received this statement.
“We are producing the all-new F-150 at full production at our Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant. As with all our vehicle launches, we are working closely with our suppliers to meet customer demand for the truck.”
Ford is not acknowledging any supplier problems with the frames or other components. However, in May 2015, the F-150 sales were down 9.7% over the same month of last year. There could be a variety factors for the sales decline. TFLtruck will continue to watch the sales numbers and see how this story develops.
