Can the next generation of the V8 Duramax get to the 900 lb-ft torque output? GM is testing several variations of Chevy and GMC trucks, and TFLtruck was able to catch this GMC dually testing high in the Rocky Mountains.
GM has always been content with a lower power rating from their turbo-diesel pickups. The current 6.6 motor is rated at 765 lb-ft of torque, while the Ram HD is at 865 lb-ft and the Ford Super Duty is at 860 lb-ft.
There are interesting opening in the hood cover and on the leading edge of the hood. It appears the GM is using an additional hood scoop to get the extra airflow and get an aggressive flair to the design.
I was able to get close to the truck at the traffic light, the diesel was very quiet on take off. It may be even quieter than the current generation trucks.
