2015 Ram ProMaster City

Let the small commercial van war begin! The 2015 Ram ProMaster City is the latest entry into an ever growing segment of small commercial and private vans. This segment did not even exist in America several years ago, and now there are four manufactures in this space. Take a look at the 2014 November van sales report to see how the competition from Chevy, Ford, and Nissan stacks up.

The 2015 ProMaster City is based on the Fiat Doblo that has been on sale in Europe for many years. Ram says that it’s not just a case of badge engineering. The Ram version has been updated and revised for the American market.

The heart of this van is the 2.4L Tigershark four-cylinder that make 178 horsepower @ 6,400 rpm and 174 lb-ft of torque @ 3,900 rpm. It uses company’s latest MultiAir2 variable valve timing technology to tune for both power and efficiency. The fuel economy estimates are 21 MPG city and 29 MPG on the highway. The 9-speed automatic transmission does the shifting. It’s geared for quick initial acceleration and provides manual gear selection. The power goes to the front wheels.

The ProMaster City has several segment bests: 1,883 pounds of maximum payload, 131.7 cu-ft of maximum cargo volume, as well as interior dimensions and wheelbase length. It’s the biggest small van out there, according to Ram.
