What better way to learn about the upgraded 2015 Ford F-450 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine than having a casual conversation and climbing a steep grade in the rain with a 26,900 lbs gooseneck trailer in tow?  This is exactly what TFLtruck did with the help of Ford’s Peter Lyon – engine calibration manager.

Getting more power without loosing economy is not a simple task, but the folks at Ford accomplished it by getting a bigger turbocharger and combining it with the next generation of fuel injector technology.  The new injectors are able to squirt diesel fuel up to five times per ignition cycle.  The name of the game is better fuel atomization and more efficient fuel/oxygen mixture.  And the benefits are many.  You get a more powerful 440 hp and 860 lb-ft powerplant that enables confident towing of up to 31,200 lbs with a gooseneck trailer.  You also get same or better efficiency as before.  You get less engine noise and better emissions.  Who doesn’t like that?
