Up to seven cameras are available on the 2017 Ford Super Duty. All this is integrated into a 360-degree camera view and the Trailer Reverse Guidance system. These cameras are situated in such a way as to make complicated backup maneuvers with a trailer much easier. This system can either leave the maneuvers to you, or it can coach you in difficult situations.
There is a camera up front, on the “Ford” emblem which is used both for the 360-degree camera and to see obstacles up front. There’s a camera on the backside of the rear-view mirror (facing forward) which works with the lane departure system. There is one camera under each side mirror which is used for trailer guidance and the 360-degree view as well. A camera is mounted in the high center stop lamp (at the back of the cab) which is used to see the bed of the truck and sees gooseneck/5th-wheel hitch points. There is a backup camera mounted in the tailgate handle that doubles as a camera used for trailer reverse guidance. Finally, a camera can be mounted on the back of the trailer (or anywhere else) which has a long extension cord that leads back to the truck.
The Ford Super Duty 360-degree Camera and Trailer Reverse Guidance system integrates all of the cameras together and displays a 360-degree view as well as multiple views leading back to the trailer and even behind the trailer. When properly equipped, you are able to select several different camera angles and use graphics to aid your accuracy when backing up.
