Motive energy reaches the rear driving wheels via a 7G-TRONIC seven speed automatic transmission with standard, steering wheel mounted shift paddles. The Metris is capable of towing up to 4,960 pounds when equipped with a trailer hitch.

SUMMARY: Driving the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris Passenger Van 126 is actually a quite pleasurable experience. I managed to log in excess of 500 miles in a variety of scenarios without any fatigue, although a port-a-potty would have been most welcome when stuck for long intervals in gridlock traffic.
Acceleration is of course not blistering, but is certainly adequate. The engine and transmission work well together in seamless fashion. Electronic Stability Control, Attention Assist, Crosswind Assist and Hill Start Assist all contribute to confident, safe travel, and the steering effort is exceptionally light at lower speeds, but stiffens appropriately at increased speeds. Parallel parking becomes child’s play with the Parktronic automatic Parking Assist, effortlessly placing the vehicle in tight-fitting scenarios. The fuel filler is cleverly hidden behind its own separate door, which is covered by the driver’s front door, thereby preventing tampering.
In the final analysis, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris Passenger Van 126 that is an attractive, value laden and affordable mid-sized people mover that will ultimately prove to be the “just-right size” for many consumers that really don’t need a full-sized van like the Sprinter. The 15,000 mile service interval should also prove to be a big plus.
