The 2016 Nissan Titan XD is ever closer to arriving at your local dealership. Nissan invited TFLtruck to Scottsdale, AZ to get some seat time in the new truck and try out all the different features. Unfortunately, the driving impressions and some hard numbers are embargoed until November 15th at 5:55 a.m. ET. Notice the time? Nissan likes to play off of the 555 lb-ft of torque from the new 5.0-liter Cummins V8 turbo-diesel.
You may already know that the next generation truck is an all-new truck and it’s launching with the XD version. The XD is a step above what is currently known as the 1500 light duty class. It has frame, axle, and other upgrades to allow it to tow and haul heavier weights. The truck will start with the crew cab in 4×2 and 4×4 configuration. Eventually, there will also be regular and King cab versions, as well as gasoline V8 and V6 engine options. There will also be a non-XD version of the new Titan.
The XD truck will be available in five trim levels: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL, and Platinum Reserve.
The Titan XD will not be EPA rated for fuel economy as it’s GVWR is above 8,500 lbs. Exact payload and towing limits will be announced on November 15th.
The truck will start shipping to dealers in December 2015, and the exact pricing will be announced very soon.
