TFLtruck just drove the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel at its press event in Flagstaff, AZ. Being that this event has an embargo on driving impressions, we opted to tell you about the event and the truck. Videos will follow soon, along with our first driving impressions which will be posted at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19th. EST.
Ram chose a handful of journalists to join them on an exploratory shakedown of the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel in Northern Arizona. Departing in the early morning and returning in the early evening, the press drive was lengthy. Covering volcanic rock, snow, thick mud, high altitude and cold weather, the journey allowed journalists to get a solid off road evaluation of the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel.
The snow, high-speed cold winds, rain, sleet and nasty chill made the adventure challenging as well.
Driving this constantly changing terrain allowed us to put the upgrades Ram gave the 1500 Rebel to the test. These upgrades include:
- A one-inch raised ride height improving off-road approach, departure and break-over angles.
- New 33-inch (LT285/70R17E) Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires
- All-new 17-inch silver and black cast aluminum wheels
- Bilstein supplies front and rear shocks with unique tuning and a new steering calibration is matched to the Rebel’s increased ride height.
- A softer rear stabilizer bar
- And, According to Ram: “A modified alignment of the independent front suspension appropriately adjusts tire angle and aluminum lower A-arms absorb the load. The combination of larger tires and a suspension lift yield best-in-class ground clearance of 10.3 inches, and a new stability program calibration takes Rebel’s modifications into consideration.”
The 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel has a host of interior updates too. A majority of which will be covered in our upcoming preview videos.
Ram says the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel goes on sale early in the second half of 2015.
