Is this 2016 Ford F-650 test prototype both diesel and CNG capable? Ford has already announced that the next generation of the Medium Duty fleet trucks will be powered by the updated 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel or the 6.8L V10 gasoline engines. The gasoline V10 will have a CNG preparation package for aftermarket compressed natural gas system fitment.
You read more official detail about the 2016 F-650 and F-750. TFLtruck caught this prototype testing high in the Rocky Mountains. The driver-side shows tanks for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF after-treatment) and diesel fuel below. There is also an auxiliary fuel tank behind the cab.
This prototype uses the current generation bodywork and outside mirrors. The front grille is extended to match the more squared-off look of the new 2016 model.
The passenger-side of the truck has a peculiar setup with an additional storage tank, which could be used for CNG/LPG. If you look carefully, there is an updated exhaust system with cooling ports dumping below the truck.
The eight-foot Super Duty bed and topper look awfully small on this F-650.
