We have some official news about the upcoming 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 trucks!

First up is the 2.7-liter turbocharged gasoline I4 engine is getting a new name. It’s now the TurboMax! It will still offer 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque in the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. This is the same identical engine as will be available in the 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon high-output versions.

Next, the Silverado 1500 ZR2 is getting a 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel I6 engine that many of us asked for. Chevrolet listened and they are making this available. The Silverado ZR2 is currently available with a 6.2L V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The new LZ0 3.0L Duramax I6 is rated at 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque.

There is also a new Active Exhaust system for the 6.2L V8 engine. It will offer different sound levels and characteristics in the 2024 Silverado 1500 when the driver selects Normal, Tow/Haul, or Sport modes.

Finally, there are several new appearance packages available. It’s the Black Appearance Package. It will be available on Silverado Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss and ZR2, and newly available Silverado High Country Midnight Edition.

Here is Mr. Truck and I discussing the news from the road (inside a new 2023 Chevy Tahoe RST Performance Edition).
