The 2017 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, currently the only half-ton truck sold in the United States with a turbo-diesel engine, is being delayed for sale due to a more rigorous emissions evalution. Deliveries of the 2017 Ram EcoDiesel will have to wait until Ram receives an EPA emissions certification. This is due to the investigation underway by the EPA. FCA is under investigation for, allegedly, adding/creating software to EcoDiesels which alter emissions results under real-world driving conditions.
You can get more information about the EPA’s allegations (here).
We spoke to FCA/Ram and received the following statement. “Demand for this product [Ram EcoDiesel] remains strong. Vehicles have been produced and emissions certification is pending. New orders are not being accepted until emissions certification is received.” – – FCA
While we wait for the results of the EPA investigation(s), we will continue to test the previous year’s Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. Currently, The Fast Lane Truck is testing a 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel for our 2017 Gold Hitch Awards.
