Did You See This Mangled Ford F-150 Drive Out of the Rubble?

We recently came across this video of a mangled Ford F-150 driving out of the rubble left by a collapsed building after a fire. This was an unfortunate accident, but it reminded us a Toyota Hilux that was torture tested on Top Gear UK. That truck was put through a trial by fire, building demolition, salt water, and more. This F-150 has already endured fire, a collapsed building, and water that fire fighters are using to put out the fire.

This is a 12th generation Ford F-150 (2009 – 2014). It’s a crew cab 4×4 model. The passenger side of the bed is completely missing, the cab is squished and mangled, but the truck fired up and moved out. It appears that the driver uses the 4×4 drive system to engage the front wheels and move forward.

We would not recommend getting into, starting, and attempting to drive a vehicle that is damaged. The truck’s fuel system may have been damaged. There may be a fuel leak and truck could potentially catch fire and/or explode. We do not know whether the driver has checked the fuel system, but the side of the bed where the fuel tank is mounted and the front appear relatively damage free.

In case you are wondering, here are IIHS roof strength and crash testing results for the steel-bodied 2013 Ford F-150 and the aluminum-bodied 2016 Ford F-150. The results may surprise you.

Here is the video of the truck driving out the rubble (posted on the 4WheelOnline Facebook page).
