The 2017 Ford heavy duty trucks are just around the corner. The trucks will be available in “late 2016” according to the Ford website. It is designated as the 2017 model and represents a major redesign.
The next generation Ford Super Duty features an upgraded frame, an all-new aluminum body and bed, as well as upgraded engines and a new transmission choice. Fords says that the frame is stiffer, and the aluminum body helps the new truck save approximately 350 lbs over the outgoing model. The new truck will feature a 6.2L gasoline V8 and a 6.7L turbo-diesel V8. The gasoline motor will be backed by a new 6-speed transmission that is a bit more “light duty” to help with weight savings. The heavy duty transmission that is paired to the torquey turbo-diesel is overkill for the 6.2L gas engine. Ford has not released the updated power ratings or the towing/hauling capacities.
Ford also has not officially released the pricing for the 2017 Super Duty, but a pricing guide for the new F-250 trucks has been reported on by other outlets. According to these reports, the base XL model regular cab F-250 with the 8-foot bed will start at $33,730 including destination charges.
