Ford says that new generations of the Ford F-150, Super Duty, Ranger, and UEV midsize pickup truck are coming over the next two and a half years. There is a lot going on and we discuss this and much more on this week’s episode of the TFL Talkin’ Trucks podcast.
Jen joins me for this episode of the podcast. We discuss the news, but we also find out what is Jen’s dream truck. Hint, it’s not a new one. We also talk about what happened during my recent family Yellowstone vacation.
The heavily-refreshed 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 will be shown sometime this year. We have been following these GM prototypes and rumors for many months. We haven’t heard anything about the redesigned F-150. We haven’t seen any updated F-150 prototypes. No spy shots. It may mean that the next major Ford F-150 update will be a 2028 model year. It may also mean that Ford is changing their development cycle and methodology. They may be driving new powertrain prototypes in plain sight and nobody can tell.
I expect to see more gas/electric hybrid powertrains to be available. Ford says they are looking to add electrification to a majority of their upcoming vehicles. We may see an F-150 2.7L Powerboost Hybrid in addition to the new 3.5L Powerboost. We may also see a Ford Super Duty gas/electric hybrid as well.
