Chevrolet is introducing two new Silverado pickup trucks at this year’s MINT 400 off-road race in Las Vegas, Nevada. They are the production Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss and the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race concept truck. Let’s dig in!

Let’s start with the ZR2 race concept truck. This is not a wild idea for a static display that is shown before and after the race. This ZR2 off-road concept truck is actually participating in the MINT 400 race, in the Open Production EV class. Chevrolet says this Silverado EV ZR2 racing truck uses 98% production parts. It looks like a production Silverado EV that is on sale now, but it has a modified suspension system and racing modifications that are required to keep the racers safe.

The suspension is lifted with specific tuning and Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve damper technology. This is a bit different from the production DSSV Multimatic dampers. Chevy describes these racing dampers as semi-active, which means it uses a similar actively adjustable damping concept to the FOX Live Valve (Ford Raptor) and Bilstein Blackhawk e2 (Ram RHO/TRX) shocks. Naturally, Multimatic brings their own take on this technology, and we cannot wait to learn more about it. Chevrolet says, this damper system delivers performance on pavement and off-road. This may be a glimpse at the next level production damper technology.

The ZR2 race truck 13 inches of suspension travel in the front and in the rear. It has locking differentials and special underbody skid plates. The lifted suspension allows for 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 tires. The electric power system delivers a maximum of 1,100 horsepower. This truck will be driven by a veteran off-road racer Chad Hall.

2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss

The EV Trail Boss will go on sale later this year. We don’t an exact date yet. This is the first off-road variant of the Siverado EV platform. It is riding on 35-inch all-terrain tires. It has a distinct Terrain Mode that assists off-road and makes the truck more maneuverable, according to Chevy. We will have much more about this Trail Boss very soon, including price.

The TFLtruck team is currently flying to Las Vegas and we will bring you all the latest video coverage from the race.
