The 111-mile trip around Denver, Colorado is done with the latest off-road style Atomic Wheels and BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrain tires. These wheels and tires are tough and capable, but the tread is a bit aggressive for ultimate efficiency. We drove 111 miles and used 48 kWh of energy.
We swapped the wheels and tires for a sporty version of the Atomic Wheels and an all-season tire. These tires are meant more for everyday use, and less for driving over rocks on an off-road trail. We drove the same 111 miles on the same loop on the same day and used 45 kWh.
The less aggressive all-season tires provided a 6.25% better efficiency and thus 6.25% more range. This number does not seem too big, but this adds up if you are driving on a long trip over over several months or years of onership. We put over 11,000 miles on our Cybertruck after about six months of ownership. Improving our driving range by 6.25% would have been very helpful on many of our trips.
