Nearly 34,000 2025 Ram 1500 Trucks Recalled Due to Stability Control Malfunction

This is the first recall for the new-generation Ram 1500

Ram launched a new recall for brand-new Ram 1500 trucks due to a electronic stability control issue.

This week, the redesigned 2025 Ram 1500 underwent its first recall because owners may experience a malfunction with the electronic stability control (ESC) system. According to what the manufacturer told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): “The front wheel hub encoder rings may be damaged, which can disable [the ESC]. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, “Electronic Stability Control Systems”.”

FCA US LLC, parent company of the Ram brand and under the larger Stellantis umbrella, told the agency it was notified of a potential issue concerning the hub encoder rings back in June. Throughout the following months, the company’s regulatory compliance organization met with engineers and analyzed records, before deciding to conduct a voluntary safety recall on October 17.

The issue affects 33,777 2025 Ram 1500 trucks in total. NHTSA documents show Ram assembled the impacted models between October 13, 2023 and August 11, 2024. The company says, “This recall is not related to a part defect, but rather a part handling issue where the WSS (wheel speed sensor) encoder ring may have been damaged prior to assembly to the vehicle.” If the damaged rings disable the ESC, the resulting failure could increase the risk of a crash, as the stability control won’t intervene when it otherwise is expected.

Ram dealers will inspect the inspect and replace the front wheel bearing hub assembly, free of charge. Most if not all of these trucks should still be under their new vehicle warranty, but if owners have paid to repair the issue out-of-pocket, FCA says it will reimburse them if owners submit the original proof of payment.

FCA already notified dealers as of October 31 about the issue. As for owners, the company says it will send out notifications on December 19. In the meantime, you can check the automaker’s recall website or the NHTSA’s recall page for more with your VIN to get more information as to whether your 2025 Ram 1500 is affected.
