In this video, TFL’s Alex goes to Ketchikan, Alaska for a fun boat deep-sea fishing adventure. This is thanks to a cool North River boat and Yamaha outboard engines. Yamaha invited TFL to Alaska to sample some of their latest side-by-sides and boat engines. What better way to learn about boat engines then going open water fishing!
When you are in open water and the weather is showing its nastier side, it’s super important to have powerful and reliable power. This is what Yamaha provides. This charter boat is equipped with a pair of Yamaha 4.2L V6 outboard engines with 250 horsepower a piece. Yamaha has an entire lineup of outboard engines from the smallest, to some of the biggest and most powerful. The 4.2L V6 engines go up to 300 horsepower. They also have 5.6L V8 outboard engines with up 450 horsepower each. Most of these engines look compact, but they pack a huge punch.
When you are going out to that special fishing spot, it’s important to be fast (if the waves allow). The power is great, but these powerful engines can also consume a lot of fuel. This 29-foot North River Seahawk SXL aluminum boat can carry a lot of people and gear. It also has up to 170 gallons of fuel capacity. This is plenty to run these engines for a very long time.
Alex catches a halibut for the first time, please join him in the video below.
