Video: Here’s What I Love & Hate About The Ram 2500 Cummins After Living With It For Over 21,000 Miles!

I don't want to sell it!

2022 ram hd 2500 cummins turbo diesel long term update review love hate

We have owned our 2022 Ram HD 2500 Cummins turbo-diesel for about a year and a half and over 21,000 miles. What are the things we love and hate about it? Here is the breakdown.

It’s one of our favorite new pickup trucks that we have owned over the last 10 years at TFLtruck.com. We usually buy a pickup truck, do a video series with it, and sell it about a year later. We are holding on to this one much longer because it’s just so useful. We have pulled a trailer with it for about 8,000 miles (out of the total 21,000 miles). It’s been a great towing rig and a road trip companion.

We recently gave it a suspension lift (BDS 3.5-inch lift) with 2.5 FOX Performance dampers. We put it on 37-inch BFG KO2 tires. We call it the “Trail Hound”. It gained a lot of off-road performance but lost no towing confidence or comfort.

There are a couple of things that we do not like. The maintenance has been fairly expensive. The recent oil change cost us $168. This truck has had at least two recent recalls that were significant enough that Ram and NHTSA recommended that we do not park it indoors due to a potential fire risk. This Cummins truck also likes to drink DEF. It uses a lot of it, especially when towing medium-sized trailers (between 8,000 – 9,500 lbs).
