Yes! I finally get my hands on my next new truck purchase. You may have remembered that I bought a brand new 2021 Ford F-150 XL more than two years ago. I sold that truck and my all-new 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss is here. My first impressions of this new truck are super positive with one shocking exception.
Here is the back story. I want to own and experience as many pickup trucks and truck manufacturers as possible. I wanted to be one of the first to get an all-new generation. The timing was right and I was one of the first people in Colorado (and perhaps the country) to order a new 2023 Colorado truck back in early November 2022. When I ordered the truck, the GM dealership system was not fully up to speed. It did not have pricing or many optional packages in the system. Still, I decided to pull the trigger and order this truck with my friend at Johnson Auto Plaza.
I knew I wanted this truck to be a capable off-roader, a towing machine, and an affordable purchase. I quickly zeroed in on the Trail Boss. It’s a more affordable trim of the new Colorado. It has a powerful 310 hp / 390 lb-ft of torque 2.7-liter turbocharged I4 engine. It has a factory suspension lift and an option to get aggressive off-road tires. Its towing package comes with an integrated trailer brake controller and a 7,700 lbs towing capability. What else does a guy need?
The truck has an updated interior, Lane Keep alert, and emergency automatic braking with pedestrian and bicyclist detection. It has an off-road mode and a Terrain mode with Hill Descent Control. However, this truck did not come with cruise control! Whoa. This was a surprise.
