The all-new and first-ever 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is officially here. Here are all the details you need to know about the next chapter in the GMC Denali pickup truck story.
2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali
The truck rides on the new Ultium battery-electric platform that also underpins the Chevy Silverado EV and the GMC Hummer EV pickup trucks. The overall dimensions of the new Sierra EV are nearly identical to those of the Silverado EV. The Hummer EV truck’s chassis has a shorter wheelbase and a wider track. The Sierra EV Denali uses two electric motors (one in the front and one in the rear) to achieve AWD capability and a total output of 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque. GMC says this new Denali truck is capable of under 4.5-second 0-60 MPH acceleration with new Max Power mode. The EV Denali does not offer Hummer’s Watts-To-Freedom (WTF) mode.
The Denali EV Edition 1 is packed with every technology and luxury feature in the current GMC truck arsenal. This is the first electrified Sierra that will reach the market in early 2024. GMC also announces the Sierra EV Elevation and AT4 off-road models are also in the works for release as 2025 models.
The Sierra EV Denali offers lots of utility with a Multi-Pro midgate and tailgate setup. The bed length transforms from 5’11” to over 10′ if you fold down the midgate and the tailgate. GMC quotes the Denali EV Edition 1 payload at 1,300 lbs and towing capacity is 9,500 lbs. GMC says over versions of the Sierra EV will offer other payload and towing capacities which will be announced at a later date.
The GMC Sierra EV Denali Editon 1 is quoted to have 400 miles of range and a 350 kW level3 fast-charge speed. It uses the same battery size and technology as the GMC Hummer EV. It can charge at 800 volts and drive at 400 volts. The total usable battery capacity should be close to 212 kWh.
On the inside is a large space for up to five occupants. The trim includes wood, aluminum, and synthetic leather. In the center is a large vertical screen with a diagonal measurement of 16.8 inches. The Denali Edition 1 is equipped with SuperCruise with trailering. The height-adjustable air suspension allows plenty of clearance for 24-inch wheels and 35-inch diameter tires. The Edition 1 trucks will also come with four-wheel steering and the Hummer’s CrabWalk feature.
