Is This What the Next-Generation Toyota Tacoma Will Look Like?

An all-electric version of the Tacoma is also a possibility.

While the production version of the next-gen Toyota Tacoma is still about a year and a half away, we expect it to carry the 2024 Toyota Tacoma designation. So far, we have only seen it under camouflage and heavy cover. What will it look like in production? These renderings from Tacoma4G.com provide one possible view based on the prototypes we have seen.

The next generation Tacoma will share the TNGA-F platform with the new 2022 Toyota Tundra and the 2023 Toyota Sequoia. Naturally, the Tacoma will be somewhat shorter and narrower than the full-size Tundra pickup truck. However, we expect it to carry a lot of family resemblance in its exterior and interior design and style.

We expect the next Tacoma to use a version of Toyota’s 2.4-liter turbocharged I4 engine. We also expect the next Tacoma to use a gas/electric hybrid powertrain. Perhaps, the next Tacoma will solely come with a hybrid powertrain – just like the all-new 2023 Toyota Sequoia.

Here is our latest prototype-hunting video of Toyota Tacoma prototypes that are undergoing high-altitude testing in Colorado.
