Which one of these newest pickup truck engines is the quickest? We put the new 2022.5 Chevy Silverado 1500 Duramax up against the all-new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X, vs Ford F-150 Hybrid, vs the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra Hybrid at a 1/4-mile drag strip.

The 3.0-liter turbocharged I6 Duramax diesel engine is in the refreshed 2022.5 Silverado Trail Boss. The power rating is 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque at a low rpm. (Side note: This engine is getting an update for the 2023 model year, and we will test that version as soon as it comes out.) It is mated to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

The all-new 2022 Sierra 1500 AT4X is powered by a 6.2-liter gas V8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This is currently the only engine available in the AT4X. It is mated to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

The F-150 Hybrid is packing Ford’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 and an electric motor for a combined 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. This one is also connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Finally, the all-new Tundra TRD Pro is powered by a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo iForce MAX V6 and an electric motor for a combined 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is here as well.
