Here we have official news about the 2023 Toyota Tacoma. The next model year of America’s best-selling midsize pickup will remain largely unchanged. Toyota adds Chrome and SX packages to the 2023 Tacoma as the current model soldiers on for another year.

You have likely already seen our next-generation 2023+ Toyota Tacoma prototype truck videos and editorial. We can see that Toyota is at work testing the next version of its Tacoma truck. Images and video clips of camouflaged prototypes have surfaced over the last 6+ months. This official news brings a strong indication that we may not see the Tacoma redesign until the 2024 model year (or later). For this reason, we will start referring to Tacoma prototypes as 2024 Toyota Tacoma from now on.

Let’s get back to the official news of the 2023 Tacoma. Toyota will maintain the trim levels, powertrains, and running gear of the current 2022 model. This means Tacoma SR, SR5, Trail Edition, TRD Sport, TRD Off-road, Limited, Nightshade Edition, and TRD Pro are all returning for 2023.

Tacoma will retain its 2.7-liter I4 engine and 3.5-liter V6 engines. The four-cylinder is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The V6 can be had with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The maximum towing rating for a properly equipped V6 model is 6,800 lbs.

The 2023 Tacoma TRD Pro model’s signature color will be Solar Octane.
