Check out this all-new 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X that has been built up into a luxurious long-haul camping rig. What if you could turn your dream off-road pickup into a premium overland truck that can feel at home on any road or trail around the globe? This is precisely what the guys at the Overland Expo are showing us.
The basis for this build is the new Sierra 1500 AT4X. This truck is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 and it rides on GM’s latest Multimatic DSSV spool-valve shocks. This truck has a great deal of off-road capability thanks to a sophisticated 4×4 system with low-range and selectable front and rear locking differentials.
The Sierra is using GMC’s accessory rock-slider steps, but the wheels and tires have been changed. It downsized the wheel from a stock 18-inch to a 17-inch wheel. The tires are upsized to 33×12.5R17. These tires are wider than stock and are about one inch larger in diameter. The stock bed is removed, and a MITS Alloy North America 6.4-foot tray bed (aka. flatbed) is installed. Naturally, it’s much more than a simple flatbed. It has many storage compartments and room for a spare tire, fridge, solar panel, and much more.
The TFLtruck team will be at the 2022 Overland Expo West event this weekend in Flagstaff, Arizona. We will bring you in-person videos from the show.
