Now that we have the most recent April 2022 sales numbers from Ford, one thing is clear. The Ford Maverick compact pickup is seeing great sales success in the United States. Ford’s small pickup outsold the all-new Toyota Tundra in April by a significant margin. The Maverick also nearly doubled the sales of the Ford Ranger. What’s going on with the Ranger?
This table shows all public information that we have for U.S. April 2022 sales. Most other manufacturers are no longer reporting sales numbers on a monthly basis. We have to wait for quarterly reporting to get the complete picture.

The U.S. Ford Ranger may be an unfortunate victim of the Ford Bronco’s success and the industry-wide component shortages. Ford sold 13,113 Bronco SUVs in April. Ford sold almost as many Broncos and Toyota sold 4Runners during last month. The Ford Bronco and the Ranger are currently produces at the same facility in Wayne, Michigan.
Another interesting piece of information is that Ford reports the company sold 1,575 all-electric E-Transit commercial vans so far this year. This is a significant number, considering the rest of the industry sold 42 electric vans over the same period (according to Ford).
