The all-new 2022 Grand Wagoneer is here. It promises to offer top-notch luxury and truck-like performance. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is as close as you can get to an SUV version of the Ram 1500. The two share the majority of the chassis, although the Grand Cherokee has an independent rear suspension, which the Ram 1500 has a solid rear axle. The Grand Wagoneer is rated to tow up to 10,000 lbs, so I put it to the test with an 8,100 lbs trailer.
In this video, I compared the Ram 1500 with the 5.7L V8 to the Grand Wagoneer with a 6.4L V8 by doing 0-60 MPH runs with and without a trailer, and highway MPG loops with and without a trailer.
This Ram 1500 with a 3.92 rear axle ratio is rated to tow just over 11,000 lbs, so these two have very comparable trailering and payload capacities. Which tows better? Let’s find out!
