Ford held a live stream today with additional details about the upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning EV pickup truck. We learned the “usable” battery sizes for the upcoming standard and extended range models. Ford also showed a list of standard and optional features for Lightning Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trim levels. Here are all the details.

Some of this information comes to us via f150gen14.com forum.

The standard range F-150 Lightning model will be equipped with a 98 kWh usable capacity battery. The “usable” capacity is less than the actual size of the battery. Manufacturers allocate an additional capacity of the battery that is not accessible to prolong its life. The extended-range model will use a 131 kWh usable battery capacity.

Ford initially announced a 300-mile driving range estimate for the extended-range model. If it corresponds to the 131 kWh battery, it means that Ford expects the crew cab 4×4 short-bed Lightning truck to consume an average of 2.29 mi/kWh. For reference, a Mustang Mach-e AWD extended range is estimated at approximately 2.7 mi/kWh. A much smaller electric car, such as a BMW i3 can reach about 4.5 mi/kWh of consumption.
